Me v. Caesars: The Defence

Today I received a copy of the defence filed by Caesars Sportsbook’s parent company.

So, we’ve now established a couple things:

  • These guys know very well who I am, as their statement refers to my blog, my course, articles written about me and podcasts on which I’ve appeared. They don’t even attempt to draw any connection between any of those things and the facts of the case at hand, they just throw it out there randomly. A lawyer friend called it “after-the-fact, not relevant, prejudicial without being probative and should be ignored/thrown out”. What are they, trying to intimidate me or something?
  • The defence was filed by a lawyer from Blakes, one of the best and most expensive corporate law firms in Toronto. They’re not spending this money because they don’t want to pay me. They’re spending it because they don’t want to set a precedent. They’re not afraid of me, they’re afraid of all of you.

Because I know they’re reading this, I’m not going to share my response to their issues at this time. I’ll do so later. For now, here it is. Enjoy!

(Note: I have to give you the abridged version here because the first few pages contained personal information and I don’t have the right software to edit a PDF so had to print it as another PDF. The rest of the 1007 pages are just copy/pastes of their house rules and my correspondence with them, nothing interesting there.)
